Acupuncture is a 5,000 year old Chinese system of natural healing (no drugs or surgery), which is concerned with restoring proper energy flow to the various organs, glands, and tissues of the body on the premise that most diseases are the result of malfunction due to disrupted energies.  The Chinese definition of Health is “All parts of the body functioning normally,” all 500 trillion parts.  If there is an interruption in the bodies transmission of energy flow (chi in Chinese), then organ begins to malfunction – disease, pain and premature aging are the result.

Acupuncture uses very thin needles (the width of a hair) inserted into various points on the body to promote natural healing and to improve overall health.

There are hundreds of conditions, but typical ailments responding to acupuncture care include: neuralgias, neuropathies such as Bell’s Palsy, headaches, spasms, muscular problems, neuralgia of the shoulders and arm, tennis elbow, osteoarthritis, stomach problems, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, certain types of heart trouble, abnormal blood pressure, hemorrhoids, low back pain, bladder problems, bed wetting, certain kidney problems, impotence, weak eyesight, loss of smell, tonsillitis, loss of hearing, skin conditions, and nervous or psychiatric disorders due to the fact that very often mental problems can arise from physical disorders.  Acupuncture is very effective in the treatment of side-effects from chemotherapy and radiation including intense nausea, low white blood cell counts, tiredness, bad digestion, and mouth ulcers.

Acupuncture is also very effective in treating female disorders such as endometriosis, menopause, and infertility, but can also help with common complaints in pregnancy, such as morning (or all day) sickness, heartburn, varicose veins, and can help a woman have an easier pregnancy and labor.
