Chiropractors embrace the body’s natural ability for self-healing and homeostasis. We recognize that injury, stress, and chronic conditions of the nerves, muscles, fascia, joints and bones may require treatment to restore normal function. This allows the body to repair properly with normal motion and minimal scarring.
We provide non-invasive treatment techniques, which may include a combination of manual therapies, physical therapy modalities, exercise programs, nutritional advice, orthotics, lifestyle modifications, and patient education. Chiropractors do not prescribe medication or perform surgery. If your condition is not suited for chiropractic treatment, we refer you to a medical specialist.
Chiropractors, like medical doctors, are primary care physicians (no referral needed), however our emphasis is on manual therapy, not pharmacology. Therefore, many medical doctors tend to refer musculoskeletal cases to chiropractors or physical therapists for active, non-invasive treatments.
Chiropractors are becoming the providers of choice as more people look for drug and opioid-free alternatives to relieve their symptoms especially chronic low back pain.
Professor Stuart McGill is a world renowned spine scientist, speaker, and author of Low Back Disorders, among other books and hundreds of peer reviewed articles. He has developed the McGill Method assessment for chronic low back pain cases, which is different from anything traditionally taught in the allied health care fields. As such, the McGill Method assessment will be able to identify which movements, postures and loads are the cause of chronic low back pain, how to remove those causes, and hence eliminate the pain. Although Prof. McGill has taught thousands of individuals during his lectures around the world, he has personally trained only 19 McGill Method Providers, Dr. Tiltmann being one of them, to assess the chronic back pain patient as he himself would.
Chronic low back pain cases are unique, complex, multifaceted, and require time and care to properly assess and treat. The McGill Method visit is a 3-hour history, examination and movement assessment protocol specific to your chronic low back pain. Time is needed to develop a thorough understanding of your low back condition and coach appropriate movements and exercises, which are video taped for your personal use. Cookie-cutter approaches like stretches, yoga, pilates, exercise, lose weight etc., do not work since these recommendations have not effectively resolved the symptoms causing the low back pain to become chronic. Even injections and surgeries are ineffective if the cause of the chronic low back pain is not properly identified.
Outcomes are based on many factors including the severity of low back damage, injury and symptom duration, symptom severity, tissues involved, numbers of therapies and surgeries attempted, age, health and patient fitness.
If you have not responded to other low back treatment and continue to suffer from chronic low back pain come and experience the McGill Method difference.

The McGill Method is intended to be a one time visit only. However, some patients requires or requests follow up visits to review; exercises, movements, instructions, treatment recommendations, etc. Telephone consultations are also available.
All patients receive a consultation, medical history, examination, diagnosis and if time permits, treatment on the same day.
Our first goal is always pain relief. However, we work proactively in identifying root causes, which compromise function resulting in pain and tissue damage.
In certain cases, we refer out for X-rays or MRI. While these are amazing imaging tools, it’s important not to rely too heavily on imaging. We remind patients that these tools provide only part of a total diagnosis picture.
Patients participating in active rehabilitation programs along with chiropractic care tend to respond quicker. This often reduces time in treatment, and improves long-term outcomes.
Financial District Chiropractic practices specialized care in both Graston Technique® and Active Release Technique®. These highly effective techniques are used to detect and break up scar tissue or adhesions that cause pain and restrict motion. This speeds healing time and benefits long-term results.
There is no substitute for a proper chiropractic adjustment that corrects joint biomechanics, increases range of motion and restores function. In cases where too much motion occurs between joints (often seen with chronic low back pain), an adjustment may not be indicated. A chiropractic adjustment can produce a unique state of relaxation and well-being because of its influence on the central nervous system.
How you use your body outside our office affects treatment outcomes. At Financial District Chiropractic, we discuss your exercise regime, analyze your movements, and review your work ergonomics. These are important aspects that will affect healing and future injury prevention.
