The chiropractic philosophy says that our nervous system is the master control system of the body, and it relates the individual to the outside world. All the nerves in the body begin or end in the central nervous system. This special collection of nerves is enclosed by our vertebral bones. When the spine is moving correctly these bones shift freely on one another, and the nerves move with them effectively providing nutrients and information to the body.
But what happens if individual bones get stuck? Now the nerve that is passing between those bones decreases in activity and the ability of the body to nurture itself has been impeded on. As a result, organs and muscles start to malfunction and the body sends out signals that your brain interprets as pain. Pain is extremely useful; it is your body’s way of trying to tell you that something is not functioning the way it should. Over time the body adapts and some of these new sensations become “normal” and the brain gives up on reading the pain signals. Your pain may go away but the reason you had pain in the first place may still be there! Through this process we have a downwards spiral into degeneration and additional or worse pain signals.
Through chiropractic adjustments, we can correct those fixations, and restore normal function of the spine and to all the tissue surrounding the source of the pain. When normal function returns and balance is brought back to your nervous system, the body stops sending pain signals and the degenerative cycle halts.Through this process, your body returns to its normal and you get to do all of the activities that you need and want to do- pain free!.
